Most people will have heard of Tea Tree oil and are probably aware of at least some of it’s main benefits, namely it’s anti-bacterial properties. Not only this, it is also anti-viral, anti-fungal and has the capability to reduce inflammation as well as so many other properties! It is a wonderful natural remedy for a whole range of conditions including acne, Eczema, Athlete’s Foot and insect bites to name but a few.

Tea Tree essential oil has a pungent and almost medicinal aroma. There is general disagreement as to whether it should be applied neat to the skin or whether it should be diluted first. We personally have used it undiluted on the skin, without any ill effects, however you should proceed with caution. If you have sensitive skin it is not advisable to use it undiluted and also do not use it on any sensitive areas or on broken skin. If you think your skin can tolerate it, then one drop on a blemish or insect bite will help the skin fight any potential germs and inflammation.

Let’s face it – here in Cyprus, we need all the ammunition we can get against insect bites, especially from the dreaded mozzies!!
